FS2004, Lihue Airport, Island of Kauai, Hawaii................PHLI

Description:

This scenery completely redoes the original right down to the last palm tree. It includes an all new terminal which is highly detailed, and now includes the entire airport. With a cargo area, hangar area, and airport office buildings. The default FS tower has been left in due to its nice rotating beacon on top which is something new in FS2004, but it has been incorporated into the scenery with the office buildings at it's base. The front of the airport has an all new parking lot complete with parked cars and landscaping. I have not used any objects which have known transition problems between FS2002 and 04, so it should also be completely compatible with FS2002.

Installation:

1. Extract the zip into your main FS2004 Addon Scenery folder, or into a temporary folder, and then move it there, which ever method you prefer.

2. Start up FS2004 and when the welcome screen, or initial menu comes on, select settings, then click on Scenery Library, and Add Area. Find the Addon Scenery folder and open it, then find the Lihue2 folder and click on it. The name Lihue2 should now appear in the title window, then click OK. Then you will see Lihue2 at the top of your scenery library list, and click the OK tab at the bottom.

3. That's it! You must first exit FS2004, and when you restart it your scenery will be there. It is not necessary to use the Addon Scenery option to locate this scenery, simply go to the airport in FS.

Notes:

Since this scenery has so much more detail than the original, and now includes the entire airport, frame rates will suffer, but I got very satisfactory results as long as the traffic was not at 100%. I still got satisfactory frames for taking off on either runway with traffic and autogen maxed out, but had a hard time landing. If you have a new Pentium 4 computer later vintage with a newer graphics card you should have no problems.

Credits:

Thanks to John de Langristin for the new low impact car parks, and all of the beautiful tree textures he has been sending to me in order to create much more realistic trees for landscaping.

Thanks to Shehryar Ansari for the Gmax jetways included here. This has been the first airport I have been able to use the brown ones at.

Thanks to Gabriel Concha for the airport vehicles, which work equally well in FS2002 or 04.

Thanks to Kyle Patton who originally sent me some photos of this airport for my original scenery, which I have either lost or deleted out of my computer since then, who knows why? Fortunately I had them ingrained in my memory for this second attempt.

Finally thanks to all the flight simmers out there who take the time to write and offer words of encouragement. This is also the reason I am starting my FS2004 updates with the Hawaiian Islands, and hopefully making them better than ever.

Contact and Legal:

This scenery is freeware, and may not be used in whole or part for profit. Since the upload proceedure is very time consuming, I can only upload to a few sites. If you wish to upload this scenery to your site, feel free as long as the site is flight sim related, and there is no charge for using the site or the scenery.

Feel free to contact me for whatever reason. I have started a new scenery design screen name which is exclusively for questions, compliments, problems, or anything related to my scenery. If you use the name of the scenery in your subject, or the word scenery, it will make it easier for me not to delete your E-mail.
